The story itself is fiction but the points raised in the novel by thier characters has some truth. Like, it says that current christianity is a mixture of Judaism and roman paganism. Sundays is the day roman pagans used to worship sun, which is later adopted by christian as their holiday. 25th Dec is the roman festival of god mithra which is adopted as christmas by christian

The book itself and the specific events in it are not real. But, there is certainly a lot of historical fact and pieces of history that fit together well.

Take for example the writing that Tom Clancy does. In his books, he describes methods of warfighting that are classified, as a whole secretive. But, in pieces by themselves, they are all little things that can be learned through independent study and research. Dan Brown has done this, through researching many other sources, he has pieced together critical clues and enough information to formulate some truths. Many aspects of the book are real: The sites, the artwork as described, and the group known as Opus Dei. Some persons and events named as historical are also true. If you haven't read the book, please do so, and also, research on your own all of the companion material that can be found.

I think it's supposed to be a combo of fact and fiction. To get the facts try googling "da vinci code" + fact/fiction. I do know that it's totally not like the Holy Bible which is ALL FICTION.

No of course not. Some said that Rick Warren is sort of a "disciple" of God (that's not yet confirmed) while others compare Dan Brown to you know, Satan (reincarnation of Satan).
Dan Brown's the author remember? Rick Warren is the author of a book about life's mission, I forgot the title.

Interesting piece of work, said to be a work of friction. But then again, one can never be sure. The 'facts' presented in the movie (and they are the subjects of many books and documentaries) can be for real! Who knows?
