The recent attack on the Amish school whereby three were killed shocked residents of the area. The school had no security whatsoever. Is it shocking that this could happen? Or is it more shocking, considering current state of affairs, that the community imagined something like this could not happen?

Certainly no one can take the blame for what hapenned except the maniac himself who did it. Even so, is it right that no one should ever expect this sort of thing as G says?I mean after seeing similar incidents at other schools, shouldn't we all be more cautious in our daily lives? We aren't in an ideal paradise-like world.

Yes, it is shocking, as are all tragedies...

But, no, it was not a shock that it happened!

Like with so many other school shootouts we have seen in recent years... The reason for this is that there has been a steady course of deleting Ethics from society, and now we are seeing the costs for this coming in...

Who's doing the deleting, you wonder...

Our High Priests in the Management Offices!

Remeber JFK making the USA into one highly aware nation, facing "Ask, what can I do for America"?

Since then, we have been getting a more and more secular western society, and with that has gone personal responsibilties, and ethics...

All arranged by Our Beloved Leaders...

And as the Amish ARE a bit out of this world, they were considered an "easy target" by this maniac...

More of this may happen...

Even though you may not be saying it's the Amish peoples fault, That is what it sounds like, Unfortuantley, No they probally didn't have security, Not all schools do,
Of course they were shocked it happened, Would you not be shocked if you were a teacher at a schoool and you had a mad gunman come in, These are the kind of things you don't think can happen to you,

I find it shocking that it happend, Especially at an Amish school, the girls were shot like animals, it sickens me,
God bless their souls xx

The Amish got it right.

The more security we believe we have, the more insecure we actually are.

Willy Sutton could break any kind of lock.

This incident was the work of a mindless individual harboring a ghost.

That ghost is in practically everyone, ready to explode at whim.

I'm not saying that security has no value, but when the new government Homeland Security agency tells you to use duct tape, or the security at airports scrutinizes grandmothers going to Florida...I believe better security is in dire need.

I grew up among the Old Order Amish near Philadelphia until about age 10. They call themselves 'the Plain People' and are wonderful in nearly every way.

However, they are not security conscious in the sense of today's world, as they deliberately live in a manner for around 1850, before the diesel engine. I think we in the city (that's what they call modern-living folks) should find ways to protect them with or without their permission as their very existence is a national treasure.

Some of the arts they taught my family such as spinning, dyeing, cooking from scratch, churning butter, barnbuilding and homebuilding, are almost lost arts.

I can knit, crochet, tat, quilt, and embroider, too.

There is no security against a nut and they know it. No one thinks it will happen to them until it happens. You are in as much danger as they were.
