I want to build a drinks bar for my small roof garden - the bar can be about four feet long, and two feet deep, and three feet high. Any ideas where to buy one, or where to find out how to build one? As it's outside, it has to be weatherproof.

This is what I did. I used metal lumber studs for the frame and covered the front, sides and top with 1/4" cement board. It is built in the shape of a shallow U, that is to say a wing wall of 12" on each end for stability. We also put 2 shelves in the back. The top (front) should overhang 8" for knee space. Screw everything together and test with a beer in hand, stand back and decide what tile would look good on the sides and top. Porcelain tile for the flat top was used because it is more chip resistant and ceramic tile was used everywhere else. When grouting, round the edges and/or use rounded trim for the arm rest. 39"to40" high is normal to fit the typical bar stools. I also put two pipe mounts in for umbrellas at each end for shade. Two weekends and I was done with this weather resistant, good looking, inexpensive masterpiece. All the materials cost me about $250 USD
Hope this helps and good luck on your project

From my own experience: Make sure your bar is "indestructible".
Not only because of strong winds on the roof garden, but also due to guest who sampled too many of your drinks.....!
I started with a skeleton of 8 inch concrete blocks and brick ties, and then finished the surface with siding brick tiles. Should be within your budget.

It might be costly to buy a bar and then have to move it into your back garden.

How big is your back garden? And are you offering free beer on your opening night?
