As sad as it is, with 3,000 babies being aborted everyday, its probably saving us from over population. not to mention the over-crowded, abuse infested foster care system. if those moms dont want those babies, chances are they arent going to be well taken care of and will just get taken away, and the government will just end up paying for them. can our country really afford 3,000 extra human beings a day? dont get me wrong, it sickens me, but i also think there is another side to it. if abortion were illegal, women would just take drastic measures to kill their unborn baby, or just not take care of it when its born. is there any point in fighting abortion? perhaps our focus should be on proper sexual and birth control education, as well as teaching our young people how to do more than just math and biology, but also how to be a responsible and productive member of society. what are you thoughts?

I have to say yes, it is !! Especially when you think of women that were sexually abused, how can anyone make a woman grow a life in her for 9 months that was the direct cause of an act of violence ? I know many people will say, yes, but there is always adoption !! Well I had two children and 4 miscarriages, I know what it is like to have life inside you and could not ever imagine giving that life away after 9 months !! I think abortion should be an option for these women as well as for women that medically, should not carry a baby to full term for their own health reasons. Abortion as a form of birth control sickens me, but as the original poster said, how many child abuse/neglect cases would we see if this was not a readily available option for these women.?

I have to agree. They only teach sex education in middle school. And even then it is not as informative as it should be. My sister said it was only 3, 1 hour classes. Just look at all the questions there are on here from 13, 14 and 15 year old kids that we all know the answers to. Like for example: a girl came on here the other day and asked if you have to have a period to be able to get pregnant. She was 14. So she should have been through the sex ed. classes already and she didn't know the answer to that! Or how even grown men and women think that "pulling out" is a way to prevent pregnancy! We really need to educate our society. Also 12 & 13 may be too late to try to teach kids about responsible sex. My little sister has a friend that is 12 and has a baby! Alot of girls these days are losing their virginity before they even get there periods! I didn't even know about STD's until I was 16 and I had been sexually active for 2 &1/2 years already! Also alot of people and kids are unaware that alot of the same STD's you can get from having sex you can get from oral sex and kissing! They won't use a condom for oral sex but insist on one for sex. As far as abortion goes I agree with you as well. My mom was 14 when she got pregnant with me. Her and her friend had always said they didn't believe in abortion so if either one of them got pregnant they would kick the other one in the stomach, because then the baby would be gone and it would be a "miscarriage!" So when my mom got pregnant with me her friend tried to kick her in the stomach! She wouldn't let her of course. I think there would be alot of these kind of things happening if we outlawed abortion.

I couldn't have said it better! There's no since in bringing an unwanted baby into the world that would be addicted to whatever drug their mother was doing while pregnant. It's a "hard knock life" for that child and it's not fair! I do believe in abortion as well as adoption and that is a personal thing as to what a pregnant woman does in her situation. I have been a single mother for my daughters entire life and she is ten years old. Her father left when he found out I was pregnant. He popped back into her life when she was one and made a few visits until she was four. We havn't seen or heard fromh him since.Do I regret my daughter? Hell no! She is my life, my reason for living the way that I do, my pride and joy. I couldn't imagine life without her. I have been able to provide us with a great life. I do know that is not possible in alot of situations. I can't stand to think of children that are beaten or mentally abused, babies that are drug addicted when their born. Why scare a teenage or drug addict mother into having their baby and putting it in a dumpster to die. I say keep abortion legal and better educate the children that are here.

I agree with Michelle A
There are many reasons for abortions/terminations to be legal and available. Not all of them financial.

To again make it illegal you will again get all the back street abortionists and their knitting needles on the kitchen tables.

Leave it to a woman's personal choice.

Addition:
It is fine for men to say ... no no no no to abortions. They are not the ones who bear the brunt of the pregnancy that is endangering their lives. They are not the ones who are the primary care givers (on the whole). They are not the ones who have to deal with a pregnancy which is the result of sexual abuse. They do not have to be the primary carer of profoundly disabled children (often their fault as well).
Leave it up to the woman to make an informed decision on what is happening to her body.

Spirit understands and has made available many herbs and medications to help women.

Not at all. I personally think abortion is murder--so there is no way it can justifiable--regardless of the problems you present. A moral imperative is involved here.

There are options. I try to get pregnant women who are contemplating abortion or just have questions about their pregnancy to visit this web site:http: http://www.optionline.org/

people say its evil, but in my point of view, abortion should be done to little girls that are raped, for example in Peru an 8 year old girl got raped by her dad. she doesnt even know the meaning of mom or sex. so should she have that baby and bring it to the world w/ not knowing how to take care of the baby?. in the other hand if your just having sex for fun and one day you get pregnant, well yeah be, responsible right?

It's murder.I'm sorry there is just no other way to say it. Should we give up? No. Did we give up when the South wanted to keep slaves? People then were saying the same thing as you are now. Yes, teach people about other alternatives but to give up a worthy fight, I'm sorry i just couldn't look my children in the eyes if I gave up. There are no necessary evils. Someday even if you don't believe in God, you will have to face him. What are you going to say? We will all have to answer for the things that we have done, but to give up the fight for unborn children, I won't answer for it.

i think abortion is way wrong. i mean everyone has their opinions, and i respect that, but i mean you shouldn't be having sex if you no you can't have a baby, but then again if somoeone were to give birth to a baby and didn't have money to take care of it then that's not right too. i would say just give birth to it and give it up for adaption at least.

No matter what anyone says, abortion is evil in my eyes. People are just taking real lives away, it sickens me. I'd rather they have the baby and give it away for adoption they always go to a good home.

Sometimes it is necessary, mainly I agree with better sex education and better knowledge on prevention of pregnancy. What is more humane, contraception or dumping unwanted babies in dustbins-or leaving them on verandas to catch cold and die? That is prevention after the event.
