If it is a pay as you go all you can do is report it to police and have it cut off.
If it is contract phone report it to police, report it to the phone server they use so it can be blocked and no bill run up. Also if you have a ploice number it will be easier to claim off insurance most phones are covered for theift if on contract.
DO NOT even think about tracing the theif down or paying any money to get the phone back. One it is blackmail and two you have no idea who this person is and could be part of a gang or on drugs etc.
GET IT BLOCKED NOW AND OUT OF SERVICE.
I hope who ever stole it their fingers drop off and get eaten by the dogs! What goes around comes around and they will be punished in another way.

The coppers can trace the phone, but it's way too expensive and it would never happen for a stolen mobile (unless you were a Government Agent... you're not are you? If you are, then the boys at MI6 HQ should be able to do that...) Best thing is get it blocked, report it stolen and get a replacement.

The same thing happened to my brother a few months ago. He contacted the police and they wouldn't do anything. So he arranged a meeting with the guy and went there with my other 2 brothers. He got his phone back but i don't know what happened to the guy, I don't think i want to. In my mind i like to believe he paid the ransom..

Report it to the police. Get a crime ref number and claim on your insurance for a new phone. Don't agree to the hundred quid.. likely hood is he'd just mug you and then be £100 up with a new phone and you'll feel like an idiot.

Contact the police and tell them what has happened. They can triangulate the postion of tyhe mobile even if it is switched off. They can then arrest the culprit for theft, blackmail and being a tit. If it was taken by force then they can be also charged with robbery, Actual bodily harm and being a tit.

Text them back to say Shove it, then report it to the police, if you have the PUK number you can block it so they won't get any use from it, the shop you bought it in could help with this. Chalk it up to experience I;ve had 3 phones stolen from me, it gets easier.

The person or people who took this phone obviously put a lot of thought, time and effort into this so i think that your friend should pay these people for all there hard work and stop being such a cheap bastard!!!

Contact the police first they may be able to track the area where the mobile is / also contact the mobile company as they may able to do the same, if that doesn't work hopefully he has insurance to cover him??
