platonic love is one of the most pure forms of love one being can offer another. Your dog or cat loves you in a platonic sense, your parents also love you platonically. A lot of people think the lack of sex is what makes a relationship platonic and that is only part of it. Platonic love is unconditional, it can be felt by people who don't even know you or the one you love

Platonic love means: "Love that is free from sexual desire". If there is no sexual desire it would seem to be just love in a friend way to me.
