Avil and cetrizine seem to be the most popular, and people seem to take it without thinking twice...I suggest if you have a chronic problem with the cold and want medication, please see a doctor and only then take medication. Vitamin E and B5 can help if taken for 4 weeks. On the other hand instead of taking medicines with side effects, try some home remedies which are also ro releive you short term mostly, but can't harm you...try this...For any kind of allergy, limejuice is the most popular remedy. In a glass containing lukewarm water mixed with 1 tsp honey, add ½ tsp limejuice. Drink it everyday in the morning for several months. However, this remedy is not recommended for those who are allergic to citrus fruits.

It is often difficult to tell the difference between allergies and infections since many of the symptoms are similar. Fever, sore throat, swollen glands, muscle aches and colored mucus do not occur with allergies and generally indicate an infection. Itching and sneezing, particularly during a season or with exposure to a particle like dust or mown grass, suggests an allergy. Stuffy nose, clear runny nose and watery eyes are common to both conditions.
Colds are caused by infection with viruses. There are more than 300 viruses known to cause colds. Most children get between 4 and 12 colds per year and adults between 2 and 6. Cold symptoms can be nearly identical to allergy symptoms but systemic symptoms often accompany the nasal and eye symptoms. Fever is associated with about 20% of colds. Body aches, feeling tired all over or just feeling lousy is common with a cold. Sore throat, swollen glands, hoarseness and cough may also occur. Colds may begin abruptly and often spread among family members or coworkers. Colored mucus from the nose, throat or chest my also occur.

Colds are caused by viruses and allergies are just that...you are allergic to something.
That's it...they are NOT one in the same thing.
You CANNOT cure a virus, only treat its symptoms and with allergies it's usually the same unless you TOTALLY avoid whatever you are allergic to.
