Why should there be an agenda or topic to discuss between the two loved one. Just let yourself go. Love is known for sweet nothings. Just go on rambling from one thing to another. There is nothing non sensical in lovers' prattling. As a lover, you will be in a delirium, or like a madcap. You need not be self-conscious about what and what not to talk. Talk and talk. That is what matters.

The key to your problem is to ask him questions. Be willing to answer any that he has as well, but if he's shy, just get him into a more private place and ask away. You might even write up a long list of questions for him. Include anything that you really want to know. Begin with broader, less personal questions and gradually progress to deep and intimate questions.
Most people like to talk about themselves, some just take longer to open up than others. Ask what you want to know, but don't start too deep too soon. As you learn more about him, you'll get even more questions.Keep at it!

It will be better you leave him as if at intial stages only you are not having any communication,nor even can think of,its clear cut,you are just physically attracted towards him.Its better to have a person who doesn't let you get bored up & whose conversation takes away the tiredness out of you & you feel full of life & the time seems to fly.A real humorous,knowledgable person,may be less handsome but full of life.
