There are psychologically unstable people in all walks of life, but to stereotype one group as a whole is wrong.
We all believe in something, some where, some how, and maybe others won't believe you. Does that make you psychologically unstable? No.

No, we don't feel that religious people have anything really "wrong" with them, in fact they're practically the only people trying to tell people the better way to live. Now, if you're looking for a group of psychologically unstable people, check into the justice system--now there's a real loving' crew.

No. Quite the contrary actually. I don't remember the exact study, but there is a strong correlation between religion and mental health. The study suggested that the fellowship with other people creates a support system which increases a feeling of well-being.

Some would say that they are very stable-- in fact, too stable, as it tends to inhibit one's ability to adapt to new social and cultural circumstances.

Of course religion denotes a hierarchically controlled system of beliefs, and the feelings behind religion are in fact separate from this.

But no, often they are not psychologically unstable unless you remove their system for support. Just like anyone else.

There is being "religious" and being a "zealot".

Being a religious person does not make a person psychologically unstable. There are some unstable people who are religious, but not all religious people are unstable.

Being "religious" just means that you subscribe to a set of laws that you want to follow in your life. Hopefully those laws tell you to respect your brothers and sisters and be ethical in everything you do. If you are those things, you belong with the most psychologically stable and sanest people in the world.

there is no scientific data to substantiate your statement. but some people who suffer from schizophrenia imagine that they have seen, heard voices from god, angels . some gullible people who have no scientific temper believe those schizophrenics as god men and begin worshiping them.as the basic tenets of all religions are dogmatic, most of the believers do not behave rationally if the issues pertains to religion and the believers suffer from jaundiced complex. they never agree that the religion of other people has also some good principles.

all people are psychologically unstable to a point. You may see religious people as unstable however they will see you as unstable. It is very irresponsible and dangerous to throw around labels so easily!

please distinguish between being religious and being fanatic.A religious person is living in harmony with himself, other human beings and the rest of the universe. He is in peace with himself and others. All religions teach us wisdom.fanatics hate other people and they have the desire for destruction.Fanatics can be right wing, left wings or who claim that they are religious but in fact they are far from being so.
