None. Most people I know that have them use them about once a year and still manage to get lost down bridle paths etc. One friend who lives about a mile from me says that his sat nav thinks he lives with me, cause when he is on his way home and passes my house, the sat nav tells him he is home!
As already said, buy a good map you'll save hundreds of pounds, hours of frustration and all the 'magical mystery tours' of sat nav.

I agree with Break. I have a Garmin i3 streetpilot and its brilliant.I tweaked the settings to avoid toll roads, unpaved roads and bus lanes, set the vehicle to truck,as thats what i normally drive, and its been 99% spot on.Other good points: Its small enough to slip into a coat pocket [do not leave it in your car as it WILL get nicked] and pretty light. It will run for six hours on a pair of duracell batteries if your car hasnt got a ciggy lighter and its CHEAP.I paid £145 for mine 9 months ago and its less than that now.It comes with all you need to get started and its literally plug n play.I use mine for work,i drive for a living, and at least one other driver has one.Others have TomToms and Navmans. The tomToms seem complicated but it could just be my bias.
Buy a Garmin and enjoy.
Please note that i have used maps for over 20 years but i am a true satnav convert.Does that tell you something?

Hi,
I've tried 2 one was tomtom and the other was co pilot.
Tomtom was by far the best one, co pilot is a absolutely rubbish by the time its finished telling you where to turn on A road this and A road that, instead of telling you the name of the road its all A roads so if you don't no your A road your lost lol .
Tomtom is quick simple and the best.

Tom Tom, for 2 reasons, 1: I have one my self and love it yeah i have had a couple of mis directions but that is just because the roads change so often but you can easily up date it, 2: I used to sell them and the Tom Tom is by far the market leader i dont care what anyone else says.

I have a Garmin i3 Streetpilot. It has voice, and pretty good at getting me places (Points of interest loader, downloadable speed camera data, customisable road speed and loads of other options) , the maps are good and are free to update (in fact when I sent mine off to be updated I was quite literally lost). It has the added bonus of last time I bought one (since buying mine, my whole family have bought one for their cars) it was priced at £120 which is considerably less than any of the other "talking" systems. Would highly recommend the robust little unit!

Do NOT bother buying a SAT NAV - they keep giving you the wrong directions (wrong way down a one way street, wide vehicles (coaches, lorries) down very narrow roads, through flooded fords).
Invest in a good road map instead.

Tomtoms are rubbish and will steer you into brick walls and one way systems. Get a map.
