I married outside my race 13yrs ago. My parents are from the Carribbean, i am black/british.My husband is white. To my amazement it still astounds me that people frown on 'mixed marriages' It was only a couple of weeks ago that i was conversing with a colleague, and when i told her my husband was white, her whole persona changed.
She then went on to say "you dont look the type"
What is the type i ask myself?
I said to my colleague, "you know what LOVE has no colour".
She then made her excuse's and walked away.
Will us human beings ever see pass the colour of another's skin?
Not in my life time i don't think. I would be interested to hear other people's views

Personally I don't see there being any problem what so ever - if you love each other and can provide a caring atmosphere for your children - thats what matters.

To echo your statement - love has no colour!!!

mixed marriages are the key to becoming richer both genetically AND culturally.
Some people are really narrow-minded though- it stems from the way they were brought up.

Will us human beings ever see pass the colour of another's skin?
Luckily, it's in the process. More and more people are becoming open-minded and are accepting the fact that there is only 1 race-that's the human race. we are all human beings, what the heck.
However, i don't think we'll be able to change the whole world's point of view. It's the parents' job to show their kids that differences in ethnicities is just in the form of skin colour and certain minor changes in theit physical features.

I'm in a mixed marriage. I'm a woman and my husband is a man!

Seriously, he's half asian and I'm white (his mum is white and dad from Pakistan) and to be completely honest I don't give a stuff what anyone else thinks about me or him or our relationship or our children's skin colour. If they've got a problem with it, that's their fault, and a reflection of how shallow and stupid they really are.

Eventually we'll all be delicious shades of brown, to varying degrees, and I can't wait for the day when what's on the inside of a person matters more than what's on the outside. You carry on loving, that's the most important thing of all.

AT the end of the day humans find it hard to leave the tribal thing behind. Technology moves on people do not.

It's very sad, it goes beyond just colour but colour being more prominent more fuss is made about it.

I suppose that you should feel sorry for people with such closed minds they cannot possibly get as much enjoyment from life as people like yourself.

What a crass ignorant person your colleague is, LOVE knows no colour or bounds, what is wrong with people today, we live in a multi culturism society and still they have to nit pick and make these nasty ignorant comments, people of different cultures, backgrounds, colours and creeds have been falling in love and getting married for many a year, love is natural, so is colour, ignorance isn't, we all have the same colour blood and beating hearts, don't make excuses for her ignorance she doesn't deserve it, just be who you are, be proud and love your man.

It is a pity that there is still a belief that races should not intermarry. Don't worry, all my friends and relations could not stand my boyfriend, as he was an alcoholic. Ten years down the line they are discovering what I did - a lovely, kind and loyal man. Ignore people like that - do not converse with them. I think a slap would have been in order here!

well my parents are of different races my mums asian and my dads caucasian and a lot of people say that my mum was like a mail order bride or something its so stupid why do people always say things like that when loves involved it doesnt matter. I live in australia and i have to say there are a lot of racists here which makes me sick and i hate it but it happens everywhere but i just tell those f*ckers to F*CK OFF!!! and maybe you should tell that to your colleague and its true that love is blind and if anyone thinks otherwise you should just go f*ck yourself no one should be giving a sh*t about it coz i know for sure i dont care. you see couples together of different races and if they're happy together then thats all that matters

I have friends who are mixed race and religion.
They seem to be OK among the normal circle of friends and work and mostly OK in the UK. But went to India on holiday and had a real rough ride.

I find that people that go on about racism are often those that are most against mixed marriages and don't realise they are the racist.

Actually its scientifically proven that mixed marriages produce better offspring. Even some religions like Islam promote mixed marriages so that you can get to know different cultures and have offspring that get the best side of both worlds.
I think its great to be in a mixed marriage ^.^
