SHIKHANDI WAS EUNUCH IN THE MAHABHARATA AND WAS CAUSE OF DEATH OF BHISHMA AS HE WAS UNDER A VOW NOT TO FIGHT A WOMAN' SO SHIKHANDI WAS USED AS SHIELD TO PREVENT BHISHMA FROM ATTACKING.

shikandi doesnt essentially mean anything as such .it is the name of a character in mahabharatha who was the uncle of kauravas.cant exactly say uncle....an uncle aunt combination...shikandi was an eunuch
