I have upgraded my PC to:

P5B motherboard
Intel Core Duo E6400
NVIDIA 5900GT video card
2G OCZ PC6400 RAM
320G Seagate SATA hard drive
DVD writer

The MB manual recommends AT LEAST 400W power supply, which means I'm gonna get fleeced for another $100 or so. What power supply should I buy?

It's better to get a higher watt power supply. Go with the 400W.

Why? Well chances are you'll want to add another hard drive or something further down along the line. If you only *just* power your system with a 350W now then you'll have to purchase a new power supply before installing any new components. This means you'll end up paying more in the long run AND you'll increase the upfront cost of upgrading your computer when the time comes.

Plan ahead. If that means saving up for an extra week so you can use something for an extra 5 years, then you may as well fork out the cash. But you should be able to find a 400W for a lot cheaper than that.

Please attempt to easily evaluate what the potential score of a conceivable furnish easily skill. what's meant by skill of a 350W potential furnish is "This potential furnish can furnish a maximum of 350W spread for the time of each of the elements i'm linked to". What it does no longer recommend is "This potential furnish will supply out 350W spread for the time of each of the elements it really is linked to consistently, inspite of the replacing potential criteria of the elements in accordance to what they are easily doing at any given time." a conceivable furnish will only ever supply out that volume of potential required by skill of the elements at any given time. the potential score of a conceivable furnish being above your recommended potential furnish score is by skill of no skill a foul component - in reality it really is ideal. Getting a conceivable furnish that very nearly meets the potential draw out of your computing device places you in probability of hardware disasters could your potential desires variety (even somewhat) above that which your potential furnish grants. base line, get your self that 750W, and satisfied gaming!

You can get away with a 350, but I recommend a 400W. Check out Enermax, they are dependable and quiet.
