I was in a really bad car wreck 4 years ago, almost died. This commercial freaks me out. I can't even watch it, I turn my head or shut my eye. I was wondering if anyone else felt the same. I still have nightmares about my wreck because of this commercial. I don't want to be reminded some of the worst months of my like every time I watch Tv.

These commercials (there's a few different scenerios) have been the topic of discussion in a few circles.

Personally, my fiance and I find them a bit scary as well. I mean, they make their point...that their cars are safe..but it's a very "loud" way of getting the message out there. Brave move by the advertising department.

They freak me out....so I agree with you....but I doubt they can do anything about it.

Sorry to hear of your accident....but happy to see that you're okay.

Take Care

Well you can always do what you said you already do, just look away and put the tv on mute... or better yet just change the channel. Personally i think those commercials are a good thing becuase if i get into a wreck in one of those, it's nice to know i'll survive. I wouldn't want to buy a car without knowing how well the safety features work, and these commercials show just that.

Also, if you are having nightmares about your wreck, I suggest seeking professional help to to help you cope with your traumatic experience. You shouldn't have to go through life avoiding things(like those commercials) due to your traumatic experience. Kinda like never being able to enjoy swimming becuase you almost drowned at a young age.

I have never been in a really bad accident so maybe that is why I cant understand your point of view.

however, i must say that all ads have some sort of real life in them. Many of them have something that may remind some viewers of a bad experience. But can we really ban every commercial becuase some folks get reminded or bothered of some terrible experiance? I really dont think so.

In many t.v. shows men cheat on their wives. can we ban those show becuase some people remeber how bad that experience was? I dont think so.

In other commercials they talk about dieseases. They may remind some people have the same dieseasds but thats life.

This trigger of your previous trauma is understandably wrong. No one likes to remember any sort of trauma...guess that's why it isn't called pleasantness or happy time and is labeled trauma. But, keep in mind that due to someone not paying attention while operating an average 3,000 pound object at average speeds of approx 35MPH, someone skips right over "trauma" and goes right to "death" approx every 10 minutes on a US highway. It "jars" people to remind them to pay attention while they're operating a vehicle so they don't traumatize others like they traumatized you.

If any commercial should be banned.. It would have to be that toenail fungus guy. Disgusting!!! Sorry about your brush with death dude, but you should feel lucky to be alive when you are reminded of the crash! I too was in a bad car crash once, and when I see crashes it reminds me too...Reminds me to count my blessings!!

i think that the fact the it grabs your attention and reminds you how bad car accidents are is the point of the ad. now even insurance companies are following this ad trend, so it must be effective (albeit jarring).

Volkswagen make great cars, but obviously these ads are very inconsiderate and they should reconsider.
