Welcome to the world of voting. I applaud you for being civic minded and wanting to participate in our democracy. To many people complain about our government but don't bother to vote because they don't think their vote counts or they just don't want to take the time. That is called voter apathy. We as voters have a responsibility to stay informed about the issues so we can make an informed decision when we vote. Spend some time each week reading the paper and the opinion page is a good place to see what people believe politically and why. Also spend some time watching the news on TV.
One show I like to watch is Hannity and Colms on the FOX news network. Hannity is a conservative in his political beliefs and Colms is liberal in his beliefs. You agree with one more than the other but you get both views on an issue and that is extremely important. Never take one persons word on an issue but see what others are saying and and why. You can form your own opinion according to your values which may or may not change as you get older. I lean one way in my political beliefs and you may lean the other way but that's OK. Its the beauty of democracy.

One thing u must understand is that the party that is not in power will always try to ridicule the other party. This is the way for them to win in elections. And most of the time, voters believe all this crap. After elections only they will realize all this talkings before elections were total bullshit. Once they come into power, they have no where to run as pressure mounts from internal, opposition, foreign countries creating havoc everywhere, world economic fluctuations etc. So u see, whether u vote for a democrat or republican, at the end of the day, the result will be the same with a new story full of **** will be created by the losing side. And this happens in every country that has an elected government. This is politics.

The democrats are bitchy because the GOP has driven this country from a high (six years ago) into the ground and deeper. The miserable performance of the Bush regime is the reason why this country is in such a bad shape. Since the GOP was placed into power by stealing the election assisted by the so call "supreme" court on 12/12/2000,
education is on a back burner
the national debt has grown to $8.5 trillion
they have started unjust wars that have costs hundreds of thousands of lives
the international standing of our nation is as low as never before
we have (recently) signed torture into law
civil liberties that our forefathers regarded as natural and holy have been curtailed
we are spying on every phone call, email, Internet chat and text message our citizens do

There are many more atrocities that the Bush junta committed, but listing those would exceed the scope of this form.

Be independent. It seems like someone has already been brainwashing you.

And just to show you the nonsense by people like "Jose'" is not worth reading........

" The Republicans on the other hand have secured America( ahaha...Republicans were in power for months before 9-11 and the Anthrax murders), are trying to tighten the border( building a silly wall that wont even cover the border) , took the fight to the terrorists, decimated half of al-qaeda,(The National Intellilgence Estimate says Alqaeda is now even MORE POPULATED) liberated Iraq (Polling shows the Majority of Iraqis want our troops out or DEAD and they dont care which)and Afghanistan(Taliban still there), and all this while there has been no attack on America since 911. (There have been plenty of attacks within "America" including an aircraft shot down over Long Island, Bus Hijackings at knifepoint by al Qaeda and Petro plants mysteriously destroyed, did i mention the Airplane flown into the Bank of America in Fl.)

I would opine here that you need to take in many sources of influences that you respect to help manage the complexity of the next two elections. I'm not doubting your intelleligence, in fact I admire that you're looking for resources, but you can't make an intelligent decision based on a website. I will tell you from my perspective, anyone that says we're safer now than before 9/11 is extremely ignorant, I am not a bitchy Democrat, I believe in securing our borders, supporting our troops, helping our economy AND getting our troops out of the fallacy of the Iraq war which we led into by deception, lies and Machiellvelian moves of the current administration. Rumsfield is out for blood, Cheney sits on the board of the company that cleans up (to the tune of 45 BILIION dollars a year) after all the mistakes this administration makes. Bush is an oafish dolt who has led the US from being the most respected Super Power in the world to the laughing stock of all nations. He has led our troops to their slaughter, left them with not enough gunpower, safety barriers, he has created the insurgents that are killing the people he claims we're there to protect. He will turn out in history to be the reckoning of the United States. It's so sweet that his followers say "well we haven't had a strike since 9/11" Yet he has been responsible for as many American Deaths in Iraq for an uncalled war then 9/11 took. Why is that supposed to be cool? It's been shown, proven indisputibaly that there is no connection between Iraq and 9/11, yet he sacrificed all of our people to, what? Make a point? His gun is bigger than Osamas? So yeah, maybe I come across as bitchey or a little bitter... My hope is with you and that you seriously look at all the opinions you'll get, do some reading of your own and come up with your own ideas. I love and respect that you're taking your responsibility to vote seriously.

Dunno, are Republicans bitchy because the president has de-graded their party standing significantly, or do they just complain anyways?
The current administration dug its own hole. Both partys can see that.
Since you are a new voter:
1. Please try to separate the candidates based on the issues, by their actual plans for dealing with such.
( I'm 'FOR' education is not addressing the issue.)
2. Actions speak louder than words.
(Look at their voting records on the issues, they tend to tell you what you want to hear to get your vote.)
3. Please dont get caught up in the liberal vs. conservative propaganda trap that is supposed to 'idiocize' you and galvanize you into being either right or wrong, and therefore losing sight of steps 1 and 2. Which leads to:
4. Dont pick a party, pick candidates. There are good people on all sides. (Dont fall for the 2-party monopoly.)
5. If all the candidates suck, leave that one blank.
(A 15%-13% 'win' lets the candidate know that he/she may have won, but they really suck.)
6. Dont take what I'm saying to heart without thinking for yourself, I may be an idiot or a liar. (Think for yourself.)

Good luck, and welcome to the game.

Katiewill;
I hope you will become enlightened on the issues facing us all! The complaining you refer to has to do with a very bad leadership in this country! It is imperative you get a good balance of information, and make up your own mind. Having said this, I fear it is getting too close to election-time for you to gain adequate insight into the issues. Suffice to say, we need to get this leadership out of power or, I fear we are doomed to fail, as a Nation! Since I have been a voter, this is the most seriously failing our country has ever been. Our jobs have been outsourced to other countries, our companies have taken most of their business overseas, our wages have been cut, our benefits are declining, and have been cut, oil prices are way out of control, the war in Iraq has been a complete failure, (except for getting Saddam Hussein - which could have\should have been done, without a war!) our Leadership is trying to combine this country with Mexico and Canada - then, we'll have either a Premier, or a triad form of governance, and more... Get informed! (I often watch PBS in order to get to the core of issues facing us, because most media is already biased, and... with the universalization of the internet there are lots of resources from around the world).

Democrats are hardly "bitchy"... they complain a lot because everything that the Republican government has done in the past 6 years is idiotic and annoying.

In any country there are & should have oppositon parties whichever way U view the party. If there is no opposition then it is TOTAL DICTATOR COUNTRY RULE. The REPUBLICANS in the US , eons ago actually stood with GOOD STEAD & TRUE TO THE CORE but NOWADAYS IT IS TOTAL DISASTER & SHOULD BE CORRECTED & REMOVED ESPECIALLY AFTER STAGING WARS ON THE PRESENT COUNTRIES & KILLING LIVES BE IT INNOCENT OR NOT SO TO SPEAK.

REPUBLICANS today are a load of cruel bunch & has no humane instinct in them but only GREED & MONOPOLY & ALL FOR SELF GAINS. If american is to be in line with the current good stead & boosting good strong economy then this BUNCH OF WICKED CROONIES SHOULD BE REMOVED & all this FROM THE NEXT ELECTION FOR A GOOD CHANGE. If U look back in history, USA has done nothing but got SOLDIERS WHO ARE HUMANS KILLED IN WARS NOT NECESSARY TO GET INTO & despite this era that preches WORLD PEACE, USA RUN BY DICTATORS LIKE FORMER BUSH SENIOR DID THE MESS & NOW THE SONE OF TEH MAD DICTATOR IS FOLLOWING THE FOOTSTEPS OF CARRYING WHAT THE OLD FOOL DID & SICNE IT HAS CREATED WORLD HATRED,,,,,U MAKE THE CHANGE & SEE TO JUSTICE IS RESTORED .

No, you're incorrect. President Nixon resigned because of the fact he would have probable been convicted in the impeachment trial. If he were convicted and faraway from workplace, then vice chairman Ford would nonetheless have become President. there exchange into no election that exchange into neglected. the different element is that President Nixon would have resigned for the solid of the rustic, whether he believed he does not have been convicted. even in spite of the undeniable fact that Nixon did something that exchange into unlawful, he enjoyed this usa. After his first run for workplace, there exchange into user-friendly to be lots corruption in the vote casting in Chicago. it somewhat is somewhat achievable that Nixon easily gained the election against John Kennedy. Nixon misplaced by utilising an exceedingly slender margin. If ther were a recount in Illinois like there exchange into in Florida after Gore misplaced, Nixon would have been declared the winner in Illinois and if that were the case he would have gained the comprehensive usa. He pronounced he did not choose the rustic to bypass that lengthy and not utilising a president and the subjects that that would desire to convey. i for my area observed what he meant in the course of the fiasco after the election between Gore and Bush.
