My son is going on 7 months old and i cannot get him to eat cereal or baby food. He either throws it up or gags before i put it in his mouth. And he has no teeth yet either. Any ideas on what the problem might be?

If they were premie...it might take a little longer....trying to remember but I don't think I served my little one cereal and baby food until 7 months or so.....

Start really small with barely any cereal mixed with formula or breast milk (whichever you use) and shake it up in a bottle and use a pin or scissors to make theb hole a little bigger than normal...just a little bigger
This will allow the cereal to pass through and get their stomach used to digesting it before you try to feed them with a spoon.
Using a spoon is most of the problem because their mouths are not trained to eat off one yet so this is always a sloppy slow process that takes patience.....
Just start small...the first feeding of cereal should almost be as watery as the milk and then get thicker with time...veggies should be introduced a month or so later and mixed with the cereal to keep it plain and close to the consistancly the baby is used to.

Some babys do not like the taste of cereal or any other factory production. My daughter did not like cereal or any baby food powder instead she prefered having soup,a king of meal that we made with almond juice, eggs or any other home made food.Till the age of 7 she did not like biscuit or chips much .She prefers healthy food but I am opposite and love chips or cheese puffs ,...
As you said your baby has no teeth the best way is to pour the food in a mixer then and you will have s.th very smooth and delicious.Baby will love it.
I give you the recepie of the almond which is very good for the baby stomach:
1- start from 2 sweet almonds and incease it weekly.
2- put the almond in hot water then you can remove the brown skin .
2-Grind the almonds,you can also do with a handy grater(Am I clear?)
3- pour half a cup or less hot water on the grinded almond
4- after 5 minutes, when the juice of almond is solved in the water it is time to take the pure juice by a strainer( you shoud only only feed the baby the juice not the grinded almond)

my son is 7 months old too and he eats table food he does not have the first tooth in his mouth but i started him out on table food when he was 5 1/2 months old. Try him on some soft food like mash potatoes. He may not like the taste of baby food any more. My son eats both baby and table food. He could have the thrash or teething several things could be wrong with him you might wnt to tke him to the doctor if he dont start eating soon you dont want him to get dehydrated.

At 7 months old, he is clearly ready for table food. I would spit out baby food too. He wants food that has texture and flavor. My daughter stopped eating baby food early and went to table food eagerly. It was amazing what she was able to eat w/ no teeth. Try the adult food, just make sure that is soft and not spicy. Avoid anything that requires lots of chewing or that could cause him to choke. By the way, my daughter is now 12 and still prefers real food over junk food or sandwiches so this is a good time to introduce good, healthy foods.

Teeth take up to a year to come in. The eating part maybe because he is just not ready, which is somewhat ok if he is breastfed, but if bottle fed he should have started eating solids, or he will not get the nutrients he needs. Also even breastfed they say start solids at 6 months. I would talk to his doc, and soon!

maybe start with 1 teaspoon at a time, give it to him, then finish it off with a bottle. gradually increase, and he will learn that food comes before a bottle.

try a really bland tasting product
