well this is a wild guess ... but you may try going into the bios and there should be place in there to turn on and turn off the on-board stuff make sure the sound card is enabled ... if it is and you have the drivers then the most likely problem is that the sound is bad or you have the wrong drivers .... which doesn't matter cause you can always get another sound card to put on it i myself have 2 sound cards 1 on-board and a SB Audigy 2 zs plat ..... hope that's all it is for you is that its disabled in bios ...and that it works great for you .... they are actually pretty good cards the card on this board is the same thing ... good luck

The resourceful SB audigy se is an exceedingly elementary sound card. I in simple terms said one at CompUSA for $27 (they have a going-out-of-organisation-sale). This elementary sound card will sound extra perfect than on-board (soundmax, realtek, sigmatel) sound and it is going to use fewer cpu cycles. As such, that's an progression. in case you truly look after good and precise sound and plan to get good audio equipment, you should seem at M-Audio or resourceful X-Fi for in elementary words $one hundred. the version in sound high quality is impressive. a extra perfect card no longer in elementary words reproduces digital sound extra perfect, even with the indisputable fact that it also helps you list from analog resources (previous LP's, analog video digital camera, sound recorded through microphone). you may have a lot extra perfect MIDI patches. video games will sound extra perfect because the outcomes are rendered in hardware. audio equipment is a confusing challenge. there is little in the "plastic" speaker cabinets that sounds very good, even with the actuality that some human beings like Klipsch. Logitech continually has some respectable sounding instruments. I favor a good set (2) visual demonstrate unit audio equipment (Behringer, KRK. M-Audio) over a 5.a million "plastic" setup. a respectable pair of properly-made powered video demonstrate instruments will be round $250. bypass to a save and pay interest to three. once you've a Guitar middle, Sam Ash or different music keep interior reach, bypass pay interest there.

No real clue given here as to what went wrong. In the device manager do any devices under sound, video & game controllers have yellow question marks or exclamation marks?

Is there a speaker icon in the system tray? (near the clock)

Are you using the light green colored jack in the back of the motherboard?

Are you sure your speakers still work? It may be on the actual speaker end opposed to wiring and software/drivers. Try taking them to a friends house a putting them on their computer. Usually speakers and such are plug n play devices.
