Nothing will happen if u keep urself away from any electrical devices in ur vehicle & dont touch anything.
& keep ur limbs as close to ur body as u can.....
(if u are sitting in ur car...)
Otherwise what will happen to u if u are not in the car??
Nothing..
Coz u must be away from it.....

I saw that in a BBC program TOP GEAR.

Well NOTHING can happen unless you are wearing a knight's armour or something.
Anyhow, jokes apart. Well never knew studying this in school would come in handy in Yahoo ! Answers.
None the less, the car here in this situation acts like a LIGHTNING CONDUCTOR. The same thin metal beacon like on top of skyscrapers and tall buildings and some people have on their houses too. This CONDUCTOR is actually earthed to a metal plate buried in the ground. So read this like you wearing rubber slippers and touching a naked wire. nothing can happen to you as the electric current can't complete its cycle as it flows from your hands towards your legs. and you come out unscathed.
Therefore the car here acts like that.
This should be the best answer I guess unless you were just playin around.
CHEERIO !!

Basically, nothing. The car body acts as a 'umbrella' and directs the lightening away from the interior.
I wouldn't advise holding on to the steering wheel as it has a heavy metal core and could conduct electric and give you a charge since you'd be acting like a grounding wire.

That nothing would happen is a MYTH.
See here, an article from yesterday newspaper (I know you probably cannot read it, but see the picture).
http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/nyheter/story/0,2789,897435,00.html

The car was ripped apart and started to burn, the woman lost her hearing, but luckily survived. As a comment to this article an expert (univeristy professor in electricity) says that it is very dangerous: the gasoline can explode and even if it doesn't the car is usualy rendered unusable, so if you are hit when driving it is very easy to create an accident.

They say that a car is the safest place to be for a lightning strike. The tires insulate the car from the ground, so IF lightning were to strike your car, the charge would quickly dissipate. However, I would also advise against touching anything in the car for a while. Your electronics would probably get damaged pretty good as well.

There is a video clip out there somewhere showing this happen. I don't think anyone got hurt, but it looked pretty scary. Maybe try to do a search for it.
