I used to work for Cingular, and one thing that I am certain of is that you could unlock it for free. First things first. You need a Phone that is GSM capable (in other words uses a sim card). What i would tell customers to do is call customer service, and tell them that they were going to be traveling outside the country. They wanted to unlock the phone so they could use it a a prepaid while overseas. As long as you've been good with payments your ok . I helped unlock like 10 razors when they were first only exclusive for cingular. Good luck.

It all depends what make it is and which network it's locked to. If you ask again add the make of phone, and the network and IMEI.
you'll get that by keying in *#06#
You can't change the IMEI as it's illegal in the UK

Go to the phone stall on your local marked they usually do it for you or if you know someone who works in a phone store
