I am about to graduate and currently looking for a job. I plan to pursue an MBA in 2-3 years time. What kinds of preparation should do to get into a good b-school? Also, what kinds of post-college careers that carries more weight on an business-school-bound resume?

In addition to the usual academics such as GPA and GMAT scores, Business schools look at your work experience. Average work experience is about 4 years. If you work at the big investment banks or management consulting firms, such as Goldman Sachs, McKinsey etc, you'll most probably get into a good MBA program. Any unsual work experience such as 2 years peace corps duty at Ecuador will also help, as will strong math-related business companies like Arbitrage trading.
So where you work and what your position is will help or break you during application.

Well, it sounds like you've done the most important thing already by graduating from college. If your grades are at least above average then you're right in the ball park. If they're stellar then you're all set. The next step is experience. Have you had any so far? If you have any job experience that's a plus since it show you can multi-task (school + work), especially if you've maintained a family through it all.

If you have little or no experience and your grades are not top-of-the-class then you'll need to get into the workforce to gain some experience. There are at least two tracks to take. (1) If you know someone or have the extreme persistence it would take to get a gopher-level position in a major company then you take it and try to get noticed. (2) You find a company that quickly trains managers, but loses them (e.g. a fast food chain). You efficiently work your way up to a managerial position and then you start sending out your resume.

Just some thoughts. Wish you the best!

Use this time between college and MBA to figure out what you want to get out of b-school. You get the most out of b-school (and sound better going in) if you can say, "I've learned and experienced x in the workplace and want to use business school to increase my expertise in y area because of z." If you pursue an occupation like engineering, take on more management type positions as you progress.

The two obvious careers that come to mind are consulting and i-banking.

Good luck!

communique significant should be ok, even if it would seem more beneficial positive in case you probably did the business enterprise significant with the communique minor. If would keep your GPA above 3.5 to be seen for a strong application. the more beneficial positive colleges are going to require a more beneficial GPA then that, yet 3.5 is a strong ballpark. attempt to construct relationships along with your professors so as that they could furnish you with strong letters of recommendations. strong success.

Admissions officers really love it if you tell them what you did as a volunteer. Don't ask me why.
