I am going thru a divorce and was wondering, how long on average does it take from the divorce date to receiving half of the 401K from your spouses account? And yes, it has been 10 years so I qualify. Thanks

Yes, also...with his 401 K plan he does receive profit sharing and can take loans out only pay them back. So does it sound like I will get now? Divorce is final next month

Doesn't your husband have to have a qualifying event, such as a change of ownership of the company in which actually issues the benefit plan? (401K, Profit Sharing..etc.) In which a payout would be forthcoming? If not, then you have to wait until the payout happens and that could be at retirement? Just wondering too...I'm in the same situation....

I am not sure how long it takes, it shouldn't be too long though. I am goiing to include an excellan broker's name and work number. I don't know the answer to that, but make sure you do something to make your own income for the future. Save your money too for retirement.
