I don't live in the states, and I don't know what food is served for Thanksgiving, but I have American friends coming to stay with me. What am I supposed to serve?

Roast turkey with dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, creamed peas, candied sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, warm rolls or bread, pumpkin pie with whipped cream! Yummy! Oh - some people also serve ham with their meal if they are having a large crowd.

I think it would be a great idea to serve some traditional Thanksgiving dishes, ie turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce or relish, pumpkin pie, etc. BUT I think it should be sitting on the table right along with some of your favorite dishes from the country that you live in. That way you are making your guests feel more at home with the traditional dishes yet letting them experience other dishes that maybe otherwise they may not get a chance to try.

Either a Traditional turkey or a spiral sliced ham (both if yuo have a lot of guests!)

Stuffing or dressing (or both)

Cranberry Sauce

Baked Mac& Cheese

Green Bean Casserole

Glazed baked Yams (sweet potatoes with marshmallow topping)

Pumpkin Pie (w/ ice cream or whipped cream)

Pecan Pie (w/ ice cream)

Wassail Bowl

Egg Nog

These should give you all the basics, you can add different things, like sugar cookies, different veggies or side dishes. The whole point is to have lots of food around and plenty of family and friends to share it with. It is a time to be thankful for your friends/family, blessings, and that your house didn't burn down in the making of the meal!

TURKEY AND CRANBERRY SAUCE. BE SURE THE TURKEY IS FULL OF STUFFING. Where are you from? Why not serve your type of food, it would be a nice treat. I imagine this person has eaten a lot of turkey to last a life time.
