For me, it is because a lot of questions show a very common lack of understanding of serious topics that they are trying to undermine. For example, all the "evolution" questions I have yet to see one in the two weeks I've been here that indicate any real knowledge of evolution or science in general. If someone's gonna bash a concept, they should at least know its fundamentals!
What really gets on my nerves though are the trolls who post flamebait questions making racist assumptions and colonial-era terminology. I only hope that people who get enough valid complaints about them will be disallowed from posting, period. Of course then they may just start new accounts to continue it.
I answer questions because I figure that those who ask serious questions want answers that are correct. Plus as a student it helps me process what I've learned and integrate it into the rest of what I know. You learn best by teaching, they say.

some people take it serious because they want to know something and that is ok .. some people think it is a game and roll with it and answer or ask mean or nasty questions...what the ones that ask bad questions really should do is to go to the personals and there they can have their fun, people there on that site like it and will accept the nasty and mean questions
this site is for serious people i think it should be that way............

Because it is their bread and butter. Some people get paid very well to answer these questions. You mean that you do this for free?

I agree, some are way to overboard. It's okay to be passionate about something but you don't have to be mad at everyone else who doesn't feel the same. We all have the right to be wrong.
