it's a matter of genetics, most red heads descend from regions where skin is fair, a fair-skinned person will burn and freckle in the sun. I have a cousin that is covered from head to toe in freckles, I have my fair share as well. When I was growing up, it was something people picked on, but thankfully times are changing and some people even think freckles are sexy now !!!

Most redheads have extremely sensitive skin that is extremely easy to burn. Freckles are the skin's attempt to heal itself after burning.

easily one of my previous girlfriends develop right into a redhead with freckles. their skin can't produce enough melanin, that means they cant get tanned. so they get more freckles instead. i think so
