Is it illegal to send a letter to someone (my friend) who's wife is cheating on them telling him what is going on? I did not put my address in return address spot and I left it annonymous. I would like to avoid confrontation.

Is it illegal in the same situation to use an e-mail account other than mine to email him?

How could I find out if this was illegal?

Serious answers only please.

It is not illegal. It may be none of your business, but it is not illegal. I would ask you a question though. Why do you feel the need to tell your friend? Is it goiing to hurt him more to know? also a warning. many times you tell the person, him and his wife work it out and the friendship goes south because you told. It is kind of gutless to do it annonymously. If this person is really your friend, you have no ulterior motive, and you really feel he has to know you should have the guts to tell him to his face. maybe talk to his wife first and give her the chance to tell him before you do.

There's nothing illegal about a letter unless it involves a threat, blackmail, fraud, or things such as that.

Using someone elses email account without thier permission may be conciderred illegal, especially if money is involved or a persons personal details are linked to the email. It's easy to get around though because there are tens of thousands of email accounts you can make for yourself using ficticious names.

It is not illegal but you have to wonder if this is something that is your place to do or not - as a friend you should tell him face to face not just send some random letter.

Perhaps you should tell the wife that you know and that you will tell him unless she ends it - some people would have preferred never knowing as long as it was ended - tell her to tell him or you will. That is what a friend would do - make sure it ends.

It's not illegal in any way, shape or form. However, sending REPEATED letters could be a form of harrassment if he ever found out it was you and it continued. Just one letter is okay. And make sure you don't send it from your area 'cause then it will be postmarked with your city, he might be able to guess it's you. Drive far away and then send it or something like that.

theres freedom of speech in this country.call the police. if you have questions about the law.it is against the law to go into the other person computer. and get info. etc. are use it illegal. but using it, just for an e mail is most probably not against the law. it is not any of your buisness about all that is it?do you know what you are saying? are you correct. without a dought. maybe he wont like the truth. maybe you should not play god, prehaps it might be left alone.are you perfect. do you expect all people to be the way you are?and live up to what way you wont for them? have you read the bible lately. are you a good person?

I think the anonymous letter you wrote is fine. I just hope he does not recognize your hand writing. If you want to send him an email. Just create a new Yahoo email address. I don't think it is against the law. And He wont recognize the email address.

Do what you would do while ANY pal comes over, hang around and speak or play video video games or pass do any of the thousand different matters peers do. You're no longer getting married, no have to make this a construction of any form.

I don't know if it's illegal or not but I wish you had been my friend when my kids father was around! There's nothing worse than all the "I wanted to tell you's" after the fact.

How on earth is that illegal? It's not a threat and you're not trying to harm him, you're only trying to help.

I think you should type the letter just in case he recognizes your handwriting.

If it's be e-mail, it's probably still okay but he might think it's spam.

I really don't think its wrong especially if this is your friend. Hopefully your accusations are 100% true and not false. Because sometimes people even friends do things that is not right.
