If by 'fullblooded' you mean of pure Maori heritage then it is open to debate as to whether they do or do not exist. If they do, then they are extremely rare indeed, and it is simply a matter of time before 'fullblooded' Maoris disappear. This is due to the full integration of all ethnic people in New Zealand which inturn has led to intermarriage between Maori and Europeans, Asians and other Pacific Islanders. However, this has not diluted the Maori identity and culture which is not only stronger today than it has been for many years, but is growing in strength. Many New Zealanders are exploring and re-discovering their Maori ancestry and proudly incorporating it into their lives.
