Actually... it's tart. But not sour, just very very tart. Which kinda makes sense when you consider that batteries are made with acid. And it's warm to the tongue. I found this out when I was a kid and touched a 9v battery to my tongue. (It hurts some, I would not suggest trying it)*

Metallic, tingly, and salty/tart. You can test this (safely) by putting the + and - ends of a 9v battery to your tongue. Be warned, you'll get a small shock, but it won't hurt you.

Take one of them rectangal shaped batteries.The small ones for walkie talkies and touch the 2 metal pieces at the end to you tounge.Than you will know it's safe to.
