What I always used is lots of Mountain dew. Of coffee..there is some pop that has even more caffeine, but I forget the name.

I used caffeine pills when student teaching and had to stay up all night. They helped..got them at convenience store.

Also open the window or go out once in a while after putting water on your eyes, hands, and body...even drive around the block..the cold helps keep you up. Or take a cold shower if you are getting drowsy.

Also set your alarm every half hour for one half hour later just in case you fall asleep..at least you will get a nap but not mess up by sleeping all night.

Good luck on the test.

You know, I pulled an all-nighter studying exactly once while I was in college. It was the final exam for the only C I got. (The rest were As and Bs.) I don't think an all-nighter pays off. I got so bollixed up, I was at a total loss even when it came to multiple choice questions!

What I would do is go over your most important stuff, nap briefly when you get too sleepy to get anything out of the textbook (like when you find your eyes drooping all the time), and then get up early and do some more. Two or three hours sleep and the rest studying will do you a lot better than no sleep at all, especially since you will probably ruin yourself with chemicals if you try to stay awake.

billie had very good suggestions up there. the point i think is to try prevent monotony and boredom; they make your body and mind sluggish. everyhing else around you can vary even as you try to remain focused.

additionally, whether for overnight work, study or long drives, strong coffee has helped me a lot. also, there are "energy drinks" that you can buy off the shelf at conveninece stores.

have you tried studying with a classmate or two, as in a study group? you could throw Q/A now and then to keep things interesting.

the others are right about this: best to get some sleep in you. you'd be surprised how much more efficiently the brain works when rested.

hope this helps. good luck!

Every time you feel sleepy, walk around, do some stretching, and try something that always pulls you awake (for me, it's watching somethnig interesting - 5 minutes and I am totally awake). While you are studying, don't eat too many snacks, and coffee is overrated as a deterrant to sleep if your body is used to it. Good luck with your exam. Don't stress yourself too much about it - oh by the way, a cold shower also works, as a last resort :)

There are lot of ways like taking caffine as in a strong coffee, washing you face with ice-cold water every half hour, pills are in the market that have caffine etc..

But I'll suggest you to not to do this. Better to have good rest before giving any test

Njoy... and all the very best for the test.

Energy drinks. You do need some sleep though, or you will not function when it comes time for the exam. A good eight hours of sleep is great for when you have an exam the next day. You will do better if you do that, then if you cram all night.

Using YA probably won't help too much. Get off the computer and study! But my advice is:
-don't get distracted
-take 5-10 min powernap(s) (this one is iffy, but it seems to work for me)
-put on some good music, not too hardcore, but not too soft (not recomended if there are others in the residence)

Play loud music and drink lots of coffee. BUT drink lots of water too! When I didn't drink water on my all nighters I got sick from the coffee. Eat sugary stuff too. Once won't hurt.

Strong black coffee. A whole pot over the course of two or three hours. Then a long hot shower in the morning.

i've always found that a good night's sleep helps the most with tests. Unless you've been slacking off and haven't started studying yet.... but usually, what you've studied seems to regurgitate better in tests, if you're well rested.
