A few weeks ago on "7 Days" they had the guy who orchestrates most of the haulers at the Cup level. Catch a repeat on SPEED--it was pretty interesting.

Since everything is licensed by NASCAR, I'm pretty sure you have to be approved by them, as the other person suggested. The non-ISC tracks and non-Nextel Cup tracks might be a little easier to get your foot in the door (or a space on the midway).

As far as buying a used hauler, you might be able to pick one up from a small team or when someone has to close the doors (like Ultra Motorsports last year). I'm sure the larger teams just repaint the trailer and tractor for the new sponsor/driver. In other words, don't look for Dale Jarrett's, Elliott Sadler's, Brian Vickers' souvenir hauler on eBay anytime soon. (although Ray Evernham might give you a deal on some Jeremy Mayfield stuff :)

Most of the vendor trucks are contracted to or belong to the race teams and / or NASCAR, Nextel or the sponsor.

I think you would have to be licensed by nascar as the drivers are. Check with the smaller teams like Robbie Gorden and maybe Michael Waltrip, the larger teams pretty much have all there's for themselves.
