It seems now a days though, apologies just don't matter. So what are they good for? Should we just do away with them?

If your apologies fall on deaf ears it tells more about the people you've surrounded yourself with than it does about apologies in general. One of the secrest to a lasting relationship or marriage is apologizing even if you were not in the wrong. My wife has apologized many times to me when it wasn't her fault and I've done the same. The lubricant that guarantees a long and loving marriage is the ability to say two things:

1. I'm sorry
2. I love you

When these two statements are sincerely said together, a lot of hurt feelings are immediately forgotten and another year of successful marriage is enjoyed.

My wife and I have been doing this for 26 years.

Even a deaf person can tell when you are truly apolegetic.

Apologies can reduce tension in a tense situation. Most people, not all, still reacts positively to someone who is apologetic than someone who's too arrogant to apologize.

Keep up what you are doing. Apologize when you are truly wrong and truly sorry.

apologize only if you believe you did wrong. But there is only so much you can apologize, but never lose your dignity trying to make someone believe you.

No way can we do away with them. If they don't matter, whoever you are apologizing to doesn't deserve it.

some people appologize without meaning it, alot of people do though, but without saying you're sorry, how would anyone tell Jesus what they are sorry for if it did not exist?
