nail polish remover would do the trick but the shine of the nail polish won't be the same as before.

You can use acetone (nail polish remover) to thin it down. Just soak a cotton pad with some remover and drip it into the nail polish bottle one drop at a time. Put the lid back on and shake. If it's too thick to shake, then get a toothpick to stir it. Use one drop at a time. If you put too much acetone in the bottle, you will make it too thin and it won't coat your nails well.

Put a drop of nail polish remover in it, shake it up, and see how the consistancy is. If it's still too thick, add more. Just, only a little at a time...wouldn't want to ruin it. Good luck.

Add a bit of nail polish remover, then shake. If it's still too sticky keep adding it until it reaches the consistancy you want.

Add the remover but also keep it away from heat in the first place. Heat is usually what makes it thick and sticky.
