My opinion:
If it's an indoor party, then go with the purple.
If it's an outdoor party, then go with the lime.

Considering that only 5% of women look good in sleeveless dresses due to less than perfect arms and fat poking out between the armpits and breasts, I would say anything other than that unless you plan on wearing a sweater to cover that area.
I cannot stress this fact enough as a stylist. Sleeveless and strapless gowns look good on only the very young and very thin. Everyone else looks matronly, overweight, and just plain tacky. Wearing sleeveless is not even okay if you have just average arms. You have to have fantastic arms if you want to pull this off and not want to look like a mom.
The same rule applies to crop pants. If you are not uber thin, wearing crop pants makes a woman look overweight and screams, "I am a mommy and not a woman anymore and I don't even know it!" Worse yet, the proportions of crop pants make every woman's (thin or fat) fanny look bigger. This is why only the most tiny of women look good in them.
Sadly enough, the standard uniform for moms seems to be sleeveless shirts WITH crop pants. If you are reading this and this is in your closet, do your husband and yourself a favor and never wear this combination unless you plan on him having an affair with a sexy woman and not an asexual mommy like the aforementioned crop pant sleeveless shirt wearing sexual being drop-out.

Go with the purple, and shuck it at the earliest available opportunity for some alone time.
Trust me, as I guy I know: alone time is just as universal as money. Yeah, purple is a better color, especially if you're a blonde

if u look like the avatar then i think purple should be nice, if its lime it might look dull, best if you ask your hubby
