Black hole and what it is what it was what it does.. is unknown. It is all guesses, but theoretically they believe it is a mass which has a strong gravitational pull... enormous really stronger than anything in univerese that even light waves can not escape the gravitational pull... hence the black hole.. no light comes out of it. It is identified as being a void of sort with all surrounding objects being dragged in and seemingly "disappear".
Another suggested theory is that it might be a hole in space i.e. worm hole, which leads into another part of the universe or even an alternate universe according to the string theory or also known as CHAOS THEORY.
Noone knows for sure, it is all theories based n observations mega million of light years away. www.nasca.co.uk

A star is essentially a balance between matter & gravity. this was brought out in sir chandrashekhar subramaniam`s thesis. however as a star continuously expends its matter ,as a consequence of thermonuclear reactions going inside its core, the proportion or rather the fine balance between its matter & gravity gets disturbed. the result is that the gravity starts to increase several times than the mass. as the mass goes on decreasing , the gravity goes on increasing. during this whole process, the star undergoes several stages you may have heard of, such as the white dwarf, redgiant, neutron star etc.the peniultimate result is that after the stage of red giant the star blows up in order to restore its disturbed balance. the explosion results in the creation of a nova or a super nova. but at this stage gravity ultimately takes over. gravity & mass now become infinite, the mass being infinitely small & the gravity becomes infinitely large. this is now your black hole where the gravity is so immense that even light cannot escape it. though black holes are now believed to emit radio waves of some sort that have been detected by telescopes. a black hole is thus a kind of anomaly in space-time where we can see the effect of ``singularity``at the ``event horizon``. this is just the place where the laws of science ,as we know them hold good. but just after the event horizon, as even light is lost , we dont know exactly how & what goes on inside. there are theories of course, & rather wild ones too, that suggest that black holes are the doors to travel in space, or the doors to other universes & so on.

the hole in my butt where terrible gases come out of, kind of like the ones in outer space and it's genesis is to let gases out in the air that will bother other people around one's blackhole instead of keeping the gases in which would bother a person's body!! i'm just kidding and i know that was gross but sometimes i just feel like being weird!!!
