I know what it's like to be concerned about your baby. I have two of my own. Really though, it's not as important how much your baby weighs. The main thing is that she is steadily gaining weight. If there were a stop to the weight gain, or she started loosing weight there would be more cause for concern. Try not to compaire her to other babies her age also. All babies weigh different amounts just as all adults do. She may just be petit. One thought though, if you're formula feeding is to mix the formula a little thicker so there's more calories in it. I would seriously consider talking to a doctor first though before doing anything like that. All the best to you.
Remember, if she's steadily gaining, she's healthy!! God Bless

My son is 12 months old and has always taken less formula than is "recommended". I participate in the WIC program and the people there were like "OMG he needs to drink more formula!!", but my doctor told me it was fine because my son was gaining steady weight.
If she is eating cereal and baby food now that could be why she is drinking less formula. My son, once he started eating, wanted the food more than the formula. If you are still concerned you can always mix the baby food you are feeding her with cereal and then add an ounce or so of formula to that.
If your doctor isn't concerned though I would try not to worry about it. Forcing her to drink more formula or to eat more to make her gain weight will not help in the long run, so unless your doctor recommends force feeding I wouldn't do it.

why do you want her to gain weight? Is her doctor concerned? Have you introduced her to rice cereal yet? It might help. And by 6 months you should probably be giving her a bit more than 4 oz at each feeding. I'm not too sure because I've breastfed all of my kids, but 4 oz at 6 mths just seems not enough. I'd try maybe 6 oz. HTH

why would you want to force your child to eat more? this is not a good thing to do, every child is different and grow in their own time. mine is 7 months old and she is 14 pounds. i am not gonna make her eat more than what she wants. also, if you give her juice, cut down on it, it will only make her full and not gain weight. i have 3 children, always been small, my 1st daughter weighed 20 pounds until she was 3 years old, then i sent her to stay with her dad for the summer, and do you know what happened? his sister took one look and said that i must have starved her all her life and started to force her to eat a lot of food, now she is almost 8 years old and almost 80 pounds. then my son was a small and sickly boy because he had GERD, so when he came to meet his aunt at just 4 months old, again she said i was starving him too, and then she tried to make him eat too much and he would puke his guts out, as if the GERD wasn't bad enough? now he is 2 1/2 years, and she was trying to force feed him, but no more, i do not talk to her anymore. he is only 25 pounds, and has been since 1 year old, no gain, no loss. and my 7 month old was not around her aunt long enough to be force fed, like i said i do not talk to her anymore. so please be reasonable and let her grow in her own time, it is not worth the misery to force her. thanks for letting me share and good luck!

There are many ways to make her gain weight, but they are not healthy (i.e. giving her milk with much sugar or adding flour into her food). Do not worry, she eats as much as she needs. Do not force her to eat more, you will do her wrong. Obessity is just round the corner but will not show now, it will show after the age of four and it will be very difficult to get rid of it at that time.
I would suggest you not to be obsessed with her weight and do not pay attention to what mothers, in-laws and friends say...
Don't push her, she already knows how much to eat.

Found that the best thing for my children no matter what age they were was to give them soda crackers and then also give them many small servings of their favorite veg or fruit. They were also crazy about eating rice pablm. one of the best kinds that they liked was malipa it was more nutrious that Hinze or Gerber and you just had to add water. Basically finding what they liked and giving them as much as they wanted. Hope this helps
