she signed the lease and i co signed and i was just wanting to know so i didnt get any surpises

1st: Cosignature on a lease agreement means exactly that you are equally responsible for the fulfillment of the contract. If she does not pay the rent, or moves out and breaks the lease... you will still be responsible for the complete rent and contract. Read the paragraph of discloser above the cosignature line on your copy of the lease.

2nd: If you think she will ask you to leave and you stay you may enter into a whole world of problems as she can easily make difficult for you. This can be financial (rent,etc.) or personal.

I would contact the manager and ask for specific ways to remove yourself from the lease legally. There may be a penalty, but most will have some method for this as this is common in divorces, etc. If she asks you to leave I would have a back-up place to go, and be ready to remove yourself from the lease quickly to avoid damaging your credit.

You both are financially responsible since your signatures are on the lease. Even if you leave, you will be responsible for your half the lease is legally binding), unless you or she decide to sign a new lease.

Most leasing agreement stipulate that you are not permitted to sublet your apartment. Best to have a Plan B and C ready, just in case. Best wishes.

She can kick you out all she wants, however if she fails to pay or falls into a legal dispute involving the lease, you will be equally responsible unless you have your name removed from the lease when you are no longer living there.

Roomate rights vary from one legal jurisdiction to another. If you're in the US, check state laws.

Generally, you're responsible for your half of the rent unless she signs and lets you out of the lease. Get on the net and check out the laws that pertain to your area. And re-read your current lease document...

No she can't kick you out. If she gets mad and hits you, call the police and kick her out!

Also, as a side note, from an experienced man, never let a woman know where you live, let alone move in with you. Also, don't get into long term relationships with Americanized women.

i don't know but i do know that if she misses any payments it will fall back on you and you will have to pay the rent . my son co signed for a truck for his soon to be x wife and now he is making 600.00 a month payments because she wouldn't so i would think you were half interest in the lease. it's VARY hard to get your name off of the lease

I used to own apartment buildings and NO she can NOT kick you out. Look in your contract to see if you can sub-lease to someone else? In the event something should happen...
Let her deal with someone else instead.

if you cosign your responsible for half the rent. If she kicks you out you can get off the lease and saddle her with the rent.

no, if you're both on the lease then you're both stuck with each other for the term of the lease.
