Are secret shopper services legit?

I've heard some advertising about secret shopping, and I'd consider it on the side for extra income. I used to babysit for a couple who evaluated restaurants and bars.

Anyone know of legit companies in NY? I"m not looking for GREAT compensation, but some perks at night would be nice.

Go to www.monster.com they have several listings for secret shoppers. From what I have seen, some companies pay rather well. Also Wal-mat and Target are always hiring for secret shoppers. Good Luck
