G'day Becsteroni Magl,
Thank you for your question.
Christmas is mine too even though I am an atheist/agnostic. In Australia, it has all the best ingredients of a great holiday;
* time with family;
* warm weather and time on the beach;
* presents (giving and receiving);
* great food and drink; and
* time off work.
There is something about Christmas that makes me a child again.
Wishing you and all Yamsters a merry Xmas.
Regards

As a child, I had 2 and one was important as the other to me. They were Easter and Halloween. Easter was so happy and pleasant a time then. Everyone got dressed in their finest clothing, which my Mom made sure were brand new for us, and then there was the Easter basket. All the goodies that were so scrumptuous, especially the solid white chocolate bunny which I was absolutely enamored of. It was soooo delicious. The hunting for the eggs was exciting and then eating them with lots of salt and pepper. Then it was back to the basket of candy. Then there was the Easter parade, after we all went to church of course, and the big ham dinner for all. Lots of company and fun. Halloween was just as important to me. Even as a teenager, we used to dress in costume and go around to neighbors and relatives homes, to see if we could fool them. We also had a bag to put our goodies in. After the fun involved in all of that, our neighborhood school had a huge bonfire and all marched in a parade and were scrutinized by secret judges as to the quality of the costume. After the festivities were over, the winners of the best costumes were called out by costume. My cousin & I dressed as twin bums one year and we won first prize. Not only did we have our candy, we had actual prizes as well. I can remember it well as if it were yesterday (believe me, it wasn't) We were able to stay out late, almost into the midnight hour and walk the streets. It was always warm and the leaves were falling and it was so endearing to me. Very nostalgic to think of it all. All of that is gone now, including all of the neighbors, our parents, and some of our friends as well. It's been a long time and I wish I could turn back the clock to those precious moments at times. As I type this, I am alone and very lonely. Wishing for those days of yesteryear, when all was simple, fun, and safe.......peace and love to all those gone before us & in memory of the good old days.........thnx for the question and memories........

Samhain. Scottish Gaelic for "summer's end" also known as Halloween. Biggest festival of the year or "New Year". Big feast for the whole family and bonfires late into the night.
