Ok the Amish killing today he sent ADULTS and boys ut of the school and girls stayed. Everytime a nutter walks into a school someone dies. Ok I am 29 if this happened in front of me, me being older I judge a younger life more valuable I would step up in hopes if I step up another person would follow suit and so on. I takea shot fine if I can at least knock him off balnce the rest can finish.

I am amzed no teacher out of all people ould take the extra step to make a move to protect the children.

MY QUESTION WOULD YOU DO ANYTHING OR IS YOUR LIFE WORTH MORE???????????

Come on have some balls so he has a gone he is a little cry baby can't deal with life and gonna blow himself away, you think he is ready for you. Next is it worth a few adults maybe not BUT ITS WORTH THE DAMN TRY. You think if one school made a rush on a nutter the next nutter would debate walking in and doing a killing versus suicide? Maybe just someday we will worry about others and stand up or else the obvious will happen every damn time.

Maybe your right maybe I would wuss out. Maybe we all will wuss out and never do anything ever again and every time someone stands up we stick our head a little lower. I never said they were cowards the point is doing anything to make a stop when these actiosn arise. You think if we never went to war people would take more stabs at us? You bet. It is the bully syndrome and they are as weak as me and my hero complex.

I would take the bullets for any child... I think! but I have never been in that situation so I can't even begin to imagine how I would truly react... frozen... combative.... running... taking the bullet , I just don't KNOW... I would WANT to step up and do all I could to save the ones around me.. but I have never had a gun to my face. So I have no right to assume.

Its easy to say what you WOULD do in the situation, but when you are actually confronted, chances are you pick the "flight " response rather than the "fight". I would stand up and take a bullet for a child, but unless there was a reasonable chance to disarm or disable an offender, it would not be worth the risk, especially when the consequences are death or serious injury. There is no point in wasting a life for the sake of gallantry. Lets just hope we are never called upon to make such a choice or witness such an action.

In the case of this Amish community, whether you approve of the lifestyle or not, it is a fact that many (if not all) of the women and children were very sheltered from the news of the outside world. It is conceivable that the adults who were released actually believed that complying might help save lives. Unfortunately for this community, they were completely clueless to this type of situation...If the men discussed the news with the women, perhaps they somehow felt immune to such horrors in their own community.
Of course, those of us in the "real" world are more in tune with what is going on. We have seen how teachers have stepped into the line of fire time and again, and I believe that most teachers, myself included, would lay our own lives down for our students. Or we'd like to think we would...
I do not believe, however, that these Amish teachers, in today's incident, were aware of how deadly the day was to turn out.

Well ... if a younger life is more valuable then is it worth 3 older people? I would do something if I had a knife or a gun, especially if the person didn't know I was there, but I'm not about to try to fist fight a guy with a gun just to get shot with the remote possibility that I end up saving someone.

You are damn right i would step up. These kids were as young as 6 years old and no one that young deserves to die like that. They havent experienced life yet and we, being older, have. I would definitely stp in front of him and at least try to save their little lives and i dont under stand whuy not 1 teacher or parent would have done the same.

I'm not sure there's anything they could have done. I assume that the teacher was unarmed and it was a one-room schoolhouse so no other adults (there was a teenage aide but she was one who was shot). What could one unarmed woman taken by surprise do against a heavily armed man looking to slaughter kids. She probably hoped he was "just" going to hold them hostage or rape them. The Amish are also opposed to the use of violence even to save life so even if the teacher was armed, she is prohibited from killing. You may not agree but that is part of their religion.

You were implying that they lacked courage, but your logic is flawed. He had over 600 bullets, 3 people were killed. Your actions would have almost certainly raised that death toll. One person killed was a teacher aide.

You cannot say what you would do until you are in teh situation yourself. In my experience in tense situations, people that run their mouths off about the heroic actions they would take, usually disappear when the going really does get tough.

I pray God blesses all their actions.

You have not attended school, atleast from your grammer. Amish have no idea of what the outside world see's. What happened today was tragic. Yes I would, I would kill every single person that imposed danger upon my family, or my friends. Where do you start?

Yes i would do my best, I'm only little but I'm sure that i could defend myself a hole lot more than those poor young girls! i totally agree with you, i think that the teachers should have stepped up to their responsibility to protect those kids.
