Speak on something you really like and would be able to talk about even without preparation. This way even if you forget a few points you can manage.Talk in a confident manner like the way you talk to your friend. Be sure that you will succed and think positively.
POSITIVE THINKING MAY NOT GUARANTEE SUCCESS BUT NEGATIVE THINKING GUARANTEES FAILURE.

Does this speech have any other criteria? Does it need to be something personal, or does it have to be a research like thing?
If it's something personal, you could go into your future career (what you'd do on a daily basis, why you chose the profession ex: I want to be a nurse because......Three reasons I want to cure cancer are......From an early age, I've wanted to help animals when they're sick and be a veternarian.......).
For something research related, you could try to sum up why America is at war with the middle east. Religous reasons, money, oil- you should be able to find plenty about it.
Hope that helps. :)

actually, that ConnerO has a good point. It is interesting how we have developed communities out in the world-miles away and most of us don't even know our neighbor. Technological advancements have disappeared the boundaries. Why not a social commentary on the abstract view of community in this generation (like as opposed to 1986)

If the topic is your choice, figure out a subject that interests you, build on it with some online research, and put something together. It will be much more effective if it's meaningful to you than if you take someone else's idea. Good luck!

Ah, how long have you had time to prepare this?
Anyway, who am I to judge, after all?
Talk about the basic rules of good speech making. And about how nervous it can make you. This way, you can stutter and forget your lines, and use it all as an example of bad speechmaking.
I'm not being sarcastic, truly. It's just a good way to cheat.

Speak about your pet, favorite teacher or family member, cooking a favorite food or fixing something on the car.. Pick a subject that you know alot about & can tell others many interesting things about that subject.

It's not bedrock, but if you are fresher then you need to make a confidence and few practice about that topic, but main thing is concentration of your mind. just concentrate on your self and then speak, you will speak better than before.
