Can anyone answer the question I asked there? I got answers but they were more interested in sounding smart than answering a simple question. Best answer for both I guess.

wow those guys were A!!holes, to answer your question, the difference would not be that noticeable by just looking at the game, the only difference would be slightly higher frames per second, but if you are considering buying a new motheboard, then you should go with one with pci express, it will be noticeably faster, but if you already have the grahics card, you have to make sure it supports agp 8x and not just 4x, hope this helps

MYSTICMAN, i was reffering to the first two ansers to the question, the ones that said something like "there is no such ting as agp 16x this is a stupid question you wrotea 4 page essay and made no sense" this person who posted this wuestion posted it 3 different times, so i did not even see your answer when i answered

I'll try :)
You wouldn't see a 2X performance increase for the 8X over the 4X for any game, movie, etc. That's because the only thing that's twice as fast is the data transfer rate from main memory to the graphics card, not the whole system. And even if the data can *get* to the graphics card twice as fast, there's no guarantee the graphics card can use it twice as fast :)

In general, for graphics-heavy applications like a 3D game at high res, I'd expect maybe a 10% speed increase for an 8X over 4X AGP card. Some particular things would run much faster than 10% faster, and you might be able to run at a higher resolution while keeping an acceptable framerate...but the difference really won't be that big. You'd see a much better speed increase going to a PCI-Express slot than you would between 4x and 8x AGP.
Hope that helps :)

Um, dreamopalms, I was one of those people who answered it last time and you basically just repeated my answer using different words. I said it would be a higher performance in benchmarks but would not be that noticeable to the naked eye. So to make it as simple as possible, there would not be a noticeable difference.

wow

My friend is a professional modder, and when he switched from a 4x to 8x mobo(everything else same), he said it only made a difference of a hundred or so points in 3dmark01se, and about 40 in 3dMark03.
So not much difference at all.
