Google Earth software takes you to the statelite images of the whole Earth.Once you install this software in ur system, u cud take snap shots of allmost all the places.Updation is doubtfull[images are almost 2-3 years old] Thats the best public can get
There is another website
wikimapia ,this site enables you to add details to desired place.Check this out.Its cool, If every one starts entering their own places in it, then every shop ,every house will be defined online and can be seen on this map.!!! like Lzzyzs coolbar, Orion cinemas ,etc etc

Google Earth is the best, although Yahoo has something in that general area, under maps, beta, you can choose satelite. But Google Earth is the best! Just make sure that your computer can support the download.

try www.multimap.com - only works in the UK and even then only some areas; zoom onto the area you want and click "areal" on the top of the map.

Google Earth also provides plently of good pictures - although it is quite a big file, http://maps.google.co.uk/ is good, you cna find your aera and then change the map to areal, i know it works for europe (Paris at least)

The website "maps.google.com" is really snazzy and it fits in your browser. Also, in your pocket.
