I'm getting married in a few days and I was wondering what are the steps I have to take to get my last name changed?

First, congratulations on the marriage.
Second, decide what your new "legal" name will be. You have to notify the Social Security Office, the Department of Motor Vehichles, and your various Credit Card companies and Banks where you have holdings of your new name.
There is no "one official form" you file - each office has it's own procedures.
Change the names on all your accounts, because your new Driver's License will have your new name, making identification sticky if you keep the accounts in your old name.
This also might be a good time to review all your credit accounts and decide which ones you really want to keep. My wife closed about 10 credit card accounts rather than change her name on them.
Be sure to do this as soon as possible. Putting it off just makes it more complicated later.

I went to the post office and got the form I need to send to the social security office. The form will tell you what you need. But if I remember correctly I had to send a certified copy our marriage license with the form to get my name changed. And in a few weeks I got my new social security card with my name change on it.

social security office, drivers license office, marriage license office... hmm... can;t think of others. Keep your marriage license handy though... as credit cards, loans etc will ask for copies to change your name.

OK Ur getting married your name will automatically changed but u can go to the court house talk to some one there

You go to social security office and apply for name change. You go to dmv and apply for new license. You cancel your current credit cards and make new accounts with your new name. Same with bank. A bit of hussle and hassle but it can be done.

You sign your marriage certificate and when it is filed your name will be changed automatically.
