If I could guess, I'd guess the lyre? The instrument mentioned in psalms and proverbs.

I could easily see someone hearing a twang from a bow when using a bow and arrow and trying to adapt that to some kind of harp.

Building a box shape for the strings to be over would come next, I'd suppose. The stick with a single string down to a sound box of some kind might be in there somewhere too.

Then trying the bow from a bow and arrow to drag string against string would be logical, leading to some version of a violin or upright bass.

Just guessing, mind you -- hope it helps you on your research.

Maybe the primitive string instrument known as the Lyra. Was it a harp or guitar, I don't know, but it's mentioned in the Bible.

Most likely the Lute.It was popular during the days of King Aurthur.
But there again, the Harp was played by Christians Back before
Christ B.C. Take ur pick......
