I would like to know how (if possible) to set up my Outlook through my Comcast ISP, using a web-based e-mail. What are Comcast's outgoing settings? Should I change the outgoing server information (to "log on using")? Or what? My friend who uses the same web-mail uses Bellsouth's outgoing settings (mail.bellsouth.net) and it works. I've tried several possibilities with Comcast's info and it doesn't work. What should I do? Please help. Thanks.

If you dont have mail service with comcast, they wont allow you to use their mail server addresses for a third party web based email. comcast uses pop servers, web based mail uses http servers. just set up your outlook using the http mail server for your web based mail and that should work. the isp should not make a difference.

Forget which ISP you use. This has nothing to do with it.

Whose email service do you use? There are only a few free email services with which you can use Outlook (Gmail being far superior to all of the others).

The vast majority of these services will use POP3/SMTP mail. So, you'll need to find the correct POP3 and SMTP servers. A quick google search should get those for you.

Also, depending on the service, they may use non-standard ports, so you may need to set those as well as the authentication method.

At any rate, if you still can't get it from here, send me an email with the name of your email service and I'll reply back with the correct settings.

Go to tools, then go to Internet options then go to programs then to e-mail and highlight outlook and then click OK If this does not correct the problem get on the phone and have comcast direct you how to do it.
