The poem is about a decision to choose one man who is wealthy and another who is not.

While the one man has a lot of money, that is all that he has to offer. She doesn’t mention his personality so he is just a rich man and nothing more.

The second man though not as wealthy has a “sudden and strong” personality. The author is attracted to these traits which lets us know she is an adventurous woman, not someone who just wants the best things or clothes.

Ultimately the speaker makes fun of her decision and mocks love in general.

Overall, she looks at love very lightly and doesn't spend a lot of time worrying or stressed about it.

The moral is that peopel have different things to offer. Some have money and "rolling lands" and some are "swift and strong" and are "a melody, happy and high"

It sounds like the writer had someone good in her life and really enjoyed being with this person in the first line. She followed him around everywhere and they spent a lot of time together. Then, for some or other reason, she lets him go. She either leaves him, or releases him from her grasp.
The second line is where the writer took someone else that was not as good and tells this person that she had made a mistake in letting the other person go.
The third line is pretty self-explanatory, don't you think? She regrets her decision in letting the good one go and taking one that is not as good. She thinks that she has made a big mistake and that someone should seriously try and figure out what's wrong with her.
Hope that helped you out a bit! ; )

Well, she did make a choice, as the title suggests.

What did she sacrifice? It's figurative language, not literal.

What did she take instead? Your idea. It's a generalization of what you want to think about.

What hard choices have you made in your life? Connect it to the text. How can you relate to her message? Sometimes, do you think someone should examine why you made a choice?

Food for Thought.

Just do yourself a favor....proof read before you turn in your paragraphs. Your teacher will tear you apart if you turn in something that is typed like this question.
