Christmas.... A couple of years ago my father passed away on Christmas Day. He died in my arms from a silent heart attack. His last words... 'I'm sorry for ruining your holiday.' Right now your probably saying, "OUCH!" Well let me explain why it is my favorite holiday. I am a Catholic and I talked to a priest about what has happened in my life and he said, "You know... we Catholics have a habit of moving on at these times. I believe it's because we are at most peace with ourselves and those around us." My dad was at peace with himself. I respect that.

Labor Day.
I get the day off and I don't have to do any Christmas shopping (I stopped doing that anyway). Or attend a turkey dinner. Or deal with a large portion of the world bowing and scraping to an imaginary being while the kids look for eggs purportedly laid by a mammal. And the Halloween thing, since I'm too old to go trick-or-treating, I am the victim of the "trick" if I don't come up with some treats. Now the Fourth of July is not bad, and fireworks are cool. I live in a city and for a week or more before the holiday even arrives, it sounds like a war zone out there, which is not a "happy thought" category for me. There's Presidents' Day. That's on a par with Labor Day, except that I work for a living and it appeals to me to get a day off in recognition of labor and tax contribution. Although I know Labor Day is supposed to represent deeper aspects of what I just said (a-la Cesar Chavez), what really curls my toes is to have the day off. Let's see, what other holidays? I don't get Memorial Day off, I don't get Halloween off, so I guess you can tell where my priorities lie.
I probably missed some holidays here. Oh well, I think I more than answered your question.
On second thought, forget what I just said. Thanksgiving is it! Two days off!! Woo hoo!

Halloween was my favorite holiday, when i was a kid. But times have changed, and where i live people don't get into the spirit of it anymore. So i guess that would make Thanksgiving my favorite. Good food, spending time with family and friends, and watching the parade on tv. in the morning, then footbal. Good times.

Halloween is fun, and I know most people will say Christmas too, but mine is Christmas, I just love the feeling in the air, the way people treat each other, the smells, and Christmas trees are so beautiful.

I like Halloween as well, all that candy.
But Christmas is my favourite, even grumpy people soften up for that holiday.
