Good books to have 9th grade biology students read?

I teach 9th grade gifted and talented Biology. What would be some good books for them to read as a supplement to their text book curriculum? I am looking for paper back science related books, but not text books. For example: Hot Zone or Into Thin Air.

in 9th grade gifted class, we had to choose two of: never cry wolf, silent spring, jurassic park, andromeda's strain, congo, etc.
they were all very very interesting
