I like to rake leaves and get ready for winter. I have to clean the barn and get bedding for the horses and chickens in case there's too much snow to bring any in later. I already had 15 tons of hay brought in. I also like the clear nights for star gazing. There is a meteor shower now through the weekend if you're up about an hour before dawn and look to the north east. I enjoy making and eating soup now that it's cooler.

Mainly, I enjoy the changes of season we have in the north. I grew up in Connecticut and now live in western Montana.

My husband and I have made a tradition of going to the only place we've ever found where you can pick your own pumpkin. We go on a weekend in dirty clothes, look for just the right one, and break it fromthe vine. This is out first Halloween being married, so we're gonna carve our names and 2006 in the pumpkin. We've been doing this for 4 years now.

Also, we started dating the day before Thanksgiving- so it's always a special time for us. We usually watch the same movie we saw on our first date (one of the James Bond ones).

Other than that, his family does a lot of hay rides, bonfires, and cookouts that we go to.

Good times.

Walk through piles of maple leaves. Sit and watch the squirrels frolic and hide nuts. Swim in the lake in the cold water in the afternoon sun (without a wet suit), throw the water up in the air and laugh.

Jump in big piles of leaves with my kids and go to the local cider mill for cider and doughnuts after going on a hayride. I simply must do this several times every fall or I just wouldn't feel right.
