Buy a razor glass scraper from a paint department of a store. They are inexpensive and may help. They are used to remove paint drips from windows and will not scratch the tank. I use one in my saltwater tank to remove coralline algae and in my freshwater tanks to remove regular algae. It works a lot better then a sponge.

I've seen these razor blade scrappers at wal-mart, they work good for scraping. Really the only way to safely remove lime in a tank is to scrape it off. 150 gallons wow that's going to take a while! To prevent the lime from building up again you can get a brita water filter that attaches to the faucet, that should help, plus it removes heavy metals and chlorine too!

there are countless reasons that your tank is additionally turning green. it rather is easily that think approximately a advance of algae, that's a for sure occuring unmarried celled plant that takes up residing in a great style of aquariums as solid as ponds and lakes. while not having extra awareness approximately the place you have your tank, what form of light it rather is getting, and so on.. i might sense which you would be waiting to be would desire to study out the 1st link that I even have quoted decrease than. The critical reason is that the plant and leftover nutrition project that think approximately in the tank with the aggregate of light (man made or genuine) will create the superb ecosystem for algae progression. i'm even nonetheless worried abou the quantity of fish you have gotten on your tank. the advice for fish is 3 inches according to 10 gallons, because of this you have double the form of fish you will desire to have for a 50 gal tank. Gold fish additionally produce a extreme volume of ammonia of their waste project which might unbalance the pH ranges in the tank. i might circulate to a puppy keep that comes with pH strips and check out with them to work out what that they had recommend. The Petco good right here in my city will ensure the water for you as quickly as for unfastened (and of course recommend which you purchase a water kit from them). Get some modern-day water shrimp and different "algae eater" form fish and shrink slightly on the nutrition, next time you do a water substitute, take out a million/2 the water, once you have scraped the facets and enable it settle to the backside. solid success!
