to get it. And I usually do get what I want, whether it be material items, technological gizmos, girlfriends, friends, my own way and I make the other people think it was their idea. When I feel that something is unfair, like when a store won't refund or replace a faulty product, i dig my heels in and create a scene until they eventaully give in. I always fight my own battles and don't let people walk all over me and I speak my own mind. However, I am a truly nice person and I would do anything for my friends and family.

Yes and no . Someday you won't get what you want and you will regret not knowing what to do when you can't have something but it is awsome that you are willing to fight for your rights and what you beleive in. Just do what you feel is right and you will be alright.

No, I don't think your way of looking at life is necessarily bad. I have a great deal of respect for people who have the guts and determination to stand up for themselves. I have always been somewhat of a doormat and I don't like that aspect of my personality very much. However, there is a fine line between being assertive and being indifferent to other people's feelings. It sounds like you have the right balance. If you have good relationships with your family and friends you must be doing something right. A person with your qualities will most likely be very successful in his/her chosen field. That's all fine and good but keep in mind the greater measure of success is having people in your life who love you unconditionally and vise versa. I've never heard a dying person say,, "Oh I wish I would've worked more. When it comes down to it, family and friends are where you'll find true contentment.....Keep doing what your doing. I think assertiveness is an admirable quality.
